01 / The starting point

A place to understand.
Uses to question.

The building occupied a remarkable setting, but successive renovations had erased its coherence. Bedrooms were small, bathrooms dated and the reception lacked presence.

Design perspective for Maison d’Hôtes Sillage
Design visualisation: a spatial proposal developed to make the design intent clear.

02 / The intention

What the proposal
seeks to resolve.

Explore the renovation of bedrooms and shared spaces, improve operational flows and build an identity that stands apart without turning its Alpine context into a theme.

03 / The design direction

An atmosphere conceived
as a continuous thread.

Matt stone, brushed larch, dense wool and landscape colours form a common language. Each bedroom offers a variation, while the ground floor gathers reception, lounge and breakfast around a hearth.

Design palette: natural materials, muted tones and tactile finishes.

04 / The design decisions

Precise choices,
connected to a use.

Every choice responds to the starting point and shows how KAMILI connects layout, use, light and materials.

01

Recover the house

The study proposes removing incoherent additions to reveal the thick walls, deep window reveals and existing roof structure.

02

Rethink operations

The proposal brings linen storage, pantry and service routes closer together to reduce journeys without crossing moments of welcome.

03

Create a family of rooms

A shared design for headboards, lighting and storage is adapted to each volume and each view.

04

Prepare for complexity

The proposed method includes a prototype room, budget approvals and phasing agreed with contractors before implementation.

05 / Initial state & proposal

Compare the starting point
with KAMILI’s intention.

These visualisations form part of a spatial study. They develop an initial state and a design proposal; they do not document a completed project.

06 / The intended quality

A clearer response,
in use and atmosphere.

The proposal aims for a continuous identity, perceptible from the threshold. Bedrooms would gain comfort and storage, while the new organisation would shorten service routes.

Nature of the study

Spatial studyAn independent study developed by KAMILI to present a design process and point of view. It does not document a completed project.

Designer’s note

We sought a generous hospitality that feels neither like mountain décor nor an overly precious home. The place simply needed to make guests want to stay.
